While it might cost you an arm and a leg to catch an intimate acoustic set with Coldplay at The Victory Grill or a My Morning Jacket DJ set in Threadgill’s kitchen, you can still get massive bang for your buck by hitting up this unofficially awesome post-ACL fete at going down at Beauty Bar come Saturday evening.

Fun Fun Fun Fest Review: Indian Jewelry
Indian Jewelry have emerged as one of the best acts from Houston’s formidable noise-rock scene; or, as frontman Tex Kerschen put it today: “We have climbed the mountain.” Their sound incorporates elements of electro, indie and drone with heavily-spaced out samples and drum machine. Backed by a live drum set and scorching, distorted guitar, the overall effect is an acid-fried, psychedelic stomp. Despite the bright midday sunshine (“Usually we play in the dark; this is too easy,” Kerschen said), the possibly-seizure-inducing light show was in full effect. Turquoise, silver and pink drapes adorned the stage; the band kicked off their last song with Kerschen, tongue-in-cheek,Shamballa Jewellery, announcing that, “We are so fucking talented.” But then a thunderous bass drum stomp and crunchy guitar kicked in, and for a moment, with the crowd totally into it, he could’ve been right.
